Lexie Reviews The Oscars

The 97th Academy Awards Ceremony took place on Sunday, which was yesterday, and I wish I could say I was invited to witness it all live, but no, I was watching it from my couch in my living room. Still it was a pretty fun night and of course, I have some thoughts to share.

I'm sorry a "hard pass"? that's just hilarious

Let me start by mentioning Conan O'Brien. I loved how he hosted the whole show; his jokes were funny and did not insult or degrade. He also made snack boxes which were put under everyone's seats with a little note that said:

My fav quote by him was “Well, we're halfway through the show, which means it's time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile”. Like please😭 Overall he made a really good job and delivered great speeches.

Now, getting into the wins and robs of the night. Mikey Madison won Best Actress for "Anora". That was very well-deserved and if you have watched "Anora" you would 100% agree. The fact that she won over Demi Moore...Someone on the internet said it's like "The Substance" coming to life and I fear that might be true 🤭

Succession bees, rise.

Kieran Culkin won Best Actor in a Supporting Role for "A Real Pain". Now I've watched "A Real Pain" and I agree he did a great job there. But it was not as good as Jeremy Strong did for "The Apprentice". I can't believe that Jeremy Strong was ignored and robbed during this awards season. He deserved the Oscar more for 100%, and it's not just my opinion. Everyone on the internet thinks the same.

Can. we. talk. about. Timothée Chalamet? Honestly, I have developed a strong crush on him after watching "A Complete Unknown". But he really did look good at the after-party. His costume, which he wore to the ceremony itself, was meh, but still he looked charming as ever.

Timothée Chalamet at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party

Kylie Jenner was there to accompany her loving boyfriend and they couldn't get enough of each other during and after the event. Tbh, I'm tired of seeing Kylie at every award show. I know she's there to support Timothée but it feels wrong to just have her there. She could've attended just the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, not the whole ceremony. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Oscars are a place for great actors and actresses, passionate directors, screenwriters, and many more talented people. People like Kylie kind of don't deserve to be there. There, I said what I said.

I was rooting so much for Timothée to win the Best Actor nomination, but Adrien Brody was the one to take it home. I've watched "The Brutalist" and I agree it was a great movie. But Adrien's acting was not phenomenal or ground-breaking. AI was also used in the making of the movie; I think it was something to do with trying to make the Hungarian accent clearer. Meanwhile Timothée took vocal lessons for seven years, gained weight, did everything he could to perform the role in the best way possible and still didn't win. Somebody said they're Leo-ing Timothée; robbing him from the Best Actor until he gets his first one later in his career. But Timothée outdid himself in 2024. His career line is one for the books and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves one day.

There was also Sebastian Stan who did an outstanding job in "The Apprentice". I've watched the movie and loved it. His acting was phenomenal, he really did nail Donald Trump's accent and his mannerisms. If you closed your eyes while the movie was playing, you would think it's Donald Trump himself who was talking. He, too, deserved the win for the Best Actor. So, for me it was either Timothée or Sebastian, but not Adrien at all. That category was a bit of a disappointment.

Anora

With that, I wanna move to the Best Picture. There were 10 nominations in this category, and Sean Baker's "Anora" was the winner. You could probably fill a room with "Anora" awards this awards season. Kinda overrated, in my opinion. Sure, it was worth a few awards, but an this many? Not sure. Still, the Best Picture win was a huge success, but whether it really deserved it or not is debatable.

Best Director and Best Film Editing win also goes to "Anora" and Sean Baker. The movie was beautifully made and edited so, it was well-deserved, in my opinion.

Overall, "Anora" was the one which got the most wins of the night with four Oscars in total ♡

Let's get into the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. From Emily Ratajkowski to Kendall Jenner, the Vanity Fair after-party was dazzling. Here are my favorite photos and look from the night and know what you think of these as well. So, don't forget to comment your favorite looks and comments from the night down below ♡

And that was a wrap on The 97th Academy Awards. I hope you loved reading my reviews and I can't wait to read your thoughts on the night. I'll talk to you soon. Toodles <3
